Welcome to The National Headquarters of the Makotokan Warrior Arts Association.
The Makotokan Warrior Arts Association was founded in 2008 By Khaleeq A. Lewis Kyoshi with the blessings & permission of O'Sensei Ronald Duncan Sr. founder of the Way of the Winds system, (The Father of American Ninjutsu) and Jamie T. Ellerbe Soke, the Founder of the Nagano Ryu Heihou Kyokai.
Our association is a recognized affiliate of the Nagano Ryu Heihou Kyokai (NRHK). However, the Makotokan Warrior Arts Association (MWAA) functions as its own independently governed organization dedicated to the preservation of our proud lineage and in ensuring the continuation of the Way of the Winds and Nagano Tradition. We are motivated and dedicated to the warrior arts and in allowing each practitioner to develop a way of life encompassing physical, spiritual and moral dimensions with a focus on self-improvement, fulfillment and personal growth.
The term Makoto means Truth and Sincerity and Kan means House. The translaton is a house of Truth and Sincerity with one-ness of word, and fraternalism indeed.
Our system is called Tenjin Ryu Bugei 天神流武芸. It is a blend of all of Lewis Kyoshi's vast martial arts experience. The Tenjin Ryu curriculum is based on the techniques of its parent systems which are: The Way of the Winds System, Nagano Ryu Heihou, Shinto Muso Ryu, Hakko Ryu, Sosuishitsu Ryu, and Shotokan Karate.
We also promote good health and fitness. If you are looking for a fun supportive organization to join to get in better shape or just to get a great workout then we are the program for you.
